In a rematch of last year’s final, the Big Sandy Wildcats bring home their first state baseball championship. The Wildcats defeated the defending champions Muenster Hornets, but a score of 13-3 in five innings.
The Wildcats went 14-0 in district 24-2A, and did not lose a game throughout the playoffs.
Here’s a look at their path to the championship:
Bi-District – defeated Mumford 11-1, 17-4
Area – defeated Weimar 1-0, 10-0
Regional Quarterfinals – defeated Burton 8-1
Regional Semifinals – defeated Mason 4-3
Regional Finals – defeated Thorndale 13-3, 15-8
State Semifinals – defeated New Deal 3-2 (8 innings)
State Finals – defeated Muenster 13-3 (5 innings)
